Emerald II

A striking close-up of an Emerald Dragonfly, bathed in an oil-slick iridescence that shifts between electric green and yellow tones. Emerging against a total black background, every microscopic ridge of its armor reflects a luminous spectrum of light.

As these dragonflies age, their structural coloration transforms, shifting from warm bronze in their youth to vibrant smaragd green in full maturity. Captured with my Olympus (OM System) setup using focus stacking, (120 frames!) this photograph reveals those fine color transitions in unbelievable clarity.

A sculptural fine art piece that captures both the fleeting age and timeless brilliance of a true natural gem.
